The Battle of Four Square Junction

Well, I wanted a good game and I got one! Not having a definite idea I decided to roll dice to pick and layout terrain items such as hills, woods, buildings and road entry points and to deploy all my ready Origawn Rebellion forces. Somewhere in the Origawn Territory, Advance Guards clash. I had been having some fun experimenting with using a 3" grid for measuring only and with playing around with 2 grid units but in the end, based on the current size of the incomplete armies, I decided to just go with the 6" grid with a unit per grid square except in cases of massed battalions where 2 units could be in a square and artillery which takes two adjacent squares, one for the gun and one for the limbers, caissons and so forth. The armies deploy directly from the march. Both armies were composed of one cavalry and three infantry brigades supported by two batteries. The internet can be a wonderful thing. While looking for some info on a music video, I found myself here: From wipidea: "The first clear references to the Irish  píob mhór  relate to Henry VIII's siege of Boulogne. A  muster roll  of the "Kerne to be transported into Englaunde to serve the kinge" contains entries of various pipers attached to these forces, such as "The Baron of Delvene’s Kerne: Brene McGuntyre pyper". [2]  and according to an entry in  Holinshed’s Chronicles (1577) for May 1544, "In the same moneth also passed through the citie of London in warlike manner, to the number of seven hundred Irishmen, having for their weapons darts and handguns with bagpipes before them: and in St. James Park besides Westminster they mustered before the king." ________ I'm going to have to add some of these to my 16thC English army. The Attack on Missisjones

It was barely an hour after the patrols left that the first Oerbergers were spotted coming over the mountains from both North and South. Note: The large Blue or Red Poker Chips mark a destroyed unit. The small red bingo markers indicate a need to Rally. The first assault was by a force of 3 Mounted Rifles and a Cavalry MG unit against a hilltop redoubt containing an Infantry company reinforced by an MG. Despite the numbers the Infantry held out and one of the cavalry units was destroyed by MG fire before it could rally and return to the fight. A second squadron was soon lost to artillery and rifle fire as reinforcements rushed to the fighting. Then the Oerberg artillery deployed and opened up on the redoubt. The battle was a long way from over. The recent repulse of the Dominion's invasion seems to have brought in volunteers from the outlying districts.
